It struck me recently that smoking tobacco, as a lifestyle choice, has some eerie similarities with industrial society, as a lifestyle choice. One of course is an individual act and an individual choice. The other a collective act and a collective choice. But it seems to me that how an individual behaves as a smoker has some uncanny parallels…
